The 7 Best Music Production Based Websites
My take on the best music production sites to visit
When using the word “best,” it can be pretty subjective. My best isn’t going to be the same as everyone else’s, and that’s fine.
With that said, there are some sites every music producer should at least check out once or twice. These sites all have a center based around music production, with many having a main focus in mind.
Mastering.com
By far, one of the best sites to check out if you are interested in mixing or mastering your music. Although mainly a course-based website, mastering.com also comes with a lot of blog and YouTube content.
These posts and videos cover various topics in mixing and mastering, such as compression, reverb, and workflow, with a slight deviation towards songwriting and business.
EDMProd
EDMProd, like Mastering.com, is a course-based website with added blog and video content. Although its name may be a little deceiving, EDMProd is by no means an EDM-only based blog.
It’s a site I would suggest to anyone who doesn’t have a lot of knowledge in the music production world, as it is loaded with many basic tutorials and guides.
Gearnews
How much of a gear junkie would you consider yourself to be? If the answer is a hardcore addict, Gearnews is your place. Gearnews is by far one of the best for discovering new and upcoming gear that’s worth mentioning. As a bonus, they even have different deals for gear that you can take advantage of.
Create Digital Music
Like Gearnews, Create Digital Music (CDM) is where anyone interested in the tech side of music production will find a home. However, with tech content, CDM also talks about live shows, plugins, and new software. They even discuss news involving different music companies on the slightly more rare side.
Music Tech
If you can read its name, then it doesn’t need to be said what goes on here. Home to hundreds of posts about music tech, you won’t have to worry about running out of new gear to discover.
Something to be mentioned is that they also discuss other topics, such as news, music, and deals, with a hosted podcast for anyone interested.
Pro Audio Files
Besides its expansive library, Pro Audio Files’ most notable feature is that it’s home to an app for Mac and iOS that helps enhance your ear training. Other than that, PAF, like the sites listed above, has a lot of helpful production tips and knowledge to share, with its main focus being on the mixing side of things.
MusicRadar
Although not as popular as all the others, MusicRadar has something they don’t, and that’s a sample library. Don’t get me wrong; it’s not as clean-cut as a site like Splice, but it has no shortage of show-stopping samples that range from genre to instrument.
Conclusion
Let’s face it; there is no shortage of excellent sites for music producers to find their next thrill. However, I hope this small list gives you an overall look at the subject, and although I urge you to find your own, this is my list of the best music production sites currently running.
