Listen, flights can be a horrifying experience, and every once in a while, it’s nice to have something to calm the nerves.

While it’s no secret that music is one of the best stress relievers known to man.

As it can make even the most anxious become at ease within a few seconds.

Not all songs are equal.

Although there are plenty of songs that will leave you feeling stress-free, there are plenty more that will do the opposite.

This list contains but a few of those many songs.

Free Fallin — Tom Petty

The song’s literal name and premise is free falling.

Therefore, I don’t think it needs to be said why listening to it on a plane might give some with a fear of flying an uneasy stomach.

However, I believe if you can overlook the name and focus on the peaceful vibe, then it’s worth the risk.

Crash — Primitives

If the title doesn’t shake you in your boots, then the first few lines probably will.

Here you go, way too fast, Don’t slow down, you’re gonna crash

Despite the song’s pleasurable melody and alluring chorus, the track might leave you feeling a little uncomfortable.

This is especially true if you’re anything like me and tend to overthink when the situation doesn’t call for it.

If the lyrics and name don’t bother you, then try not to think about the fact that you’re listening to a song named Crash on a Plane.

B.O.B. — OutKast

At first glance, this song may seem like a good idea until you realize that the song’s name stands for “bombs over Baghdad.”

That only means if you plan on singing along while flying, you should do so in your head.

Otherwise, you might run the risk of being tackled by security.

Learn To Fly — Foo Fighters

Although not the worst song you could listen to on a plane, it could still give you a tense feeling while flying.

This is most evident when you think about whether or not the pilot takes the lyrics to heart.

I just hope for your sake that this song doesn’t hold any truth.

Ice On The Wing — Nada Surf

Sense icing on the wings of a plane is a real Phenomenon.

It’s no surprise that this song can entice one’s fears.

Leaving, on a Jet Plane — John Denver

Now, on a typical day, John Denver would be at the top of the most recommended.

Sadly, I can’t avoid adding him to this list.

The reason is that the song’s central premise is about someone losing their life on a flight and the remembrance that comes after.

Conclusion

Okay, so these songs might not relieve air travel unease. Does that mean you can’t listen to them on a plane?

Of course not; this list isn’t telling you what to do but informing those with many air travel fears that these should probably be left out of your playlist.

If you don’t have a fear of flying or just don’t give a shit, then by all means, listen to whatever gets you in the mood.
